The 5-5-5 rule for anxiety

This is a simple deep breathing exercise called the 5-5-5 method. To do this, you breathe in for 5 seconds, hold your breath for 5 seconds, and then breathe out for 5 seconds. You can continue this process until your thoughts slow down or you notice some relief.

The Golden Elevator technique for anxiety

Whenever you feel anxious or overwhelmed call for your imaginary golden elevator. As you step inside you leave your troubles outside as you ascend to the top floor. You step out into the most beautiful world: a world of green meadows, beautiful flowers, and blue skies. You now feel calm, relaxed and in control as you feel the warm sun on your face. You can summon the golden elevator any time you like.

The 5-4-3-2-1 anxiety method

Once you find your breath, go through the following steps to help ground yourself:

1. Acknowledge FIVE things you see around you.

2. Acknowledge FOUR things you can touch around you.

3. Acknowledge THREE things you hear.

4. Acknowledge TWO things you can smell.

5. Acknowledge ONE thing you can taste.
